Project Description

Michael Rock, born in 1971, is Chair of the Group for Lightning and Surge Protection at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Technische Universität Ilmenau (TU Ilmenau / Technical University Ilmenau / Ilmenau University of Technology) in Germany.
He was research associate and assistant at the Institute for Electrical Power and Control Engineering at TU Ilmenau from 1997 to 2009, obtained his doctoral degree in 2002 and postdoctoral degree (habilitated) in 2012, and worked as project engineer in Research and Development department at company DEHN SE from 2009 to 2011. Since 2011, he has held an Endowed Professorship by the donator DEHN SE.
He works on the UK 441.1 and K 251 standards committees at DKE and has been Chairman of the German Committee for Lightning Protection and Research (ABB) in the Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE) since 2016.
